  1. Hi. We would love to see tennis courts at the Plum Creek North Park. We walk by this area every day with our dog and it has potential for the courts to be revamped! The existing concrete walkways are already there. It would be a great addition to the community. Thank you!

    1. I hope we don’t just have pickle ball, maybe a tennis court/pickle ball area & a basketball court or at least 1 hoop. That’s a large area for just pickleball….. please put at least 1 basketball hoop. There’s a lot of young families in the plum creek area now. Thank you

  2. Why not backfill the pool with soil or aggregate and create bocce courts? – they could be lighted and provide a great gathering place for the community. The existing concrete would provide a great infrastructure at little additional cost. Lighted tennis courts/ pickle courts seem like an easy choice in terms of low additional cost as well…

    1. We also love the tennis courts, so many tennis and pickle ball players here. Great asset for our community. The tennis courts are existing and could be resurfaced. The pool house could be converted into a clubhouse with outside covered area (already exists). . Great for gatherings.

  3. Festival Park is such a beautiful asset to our community. Would love to see our new park incorporate natural elements to compliment the golf course and mirror what we accomplished at FP. Also think refurbishing the tennis courts would be a great addition. In reference to a skate or dog park feel that would diminish the appeal of the area.

  4. Regarding Plum Creek South Park – Given that the demographics of Plum Creek in general lean toward older folks/retirees, I would think that the school district would eventually cross this site off their list for future school sites. Also, the property is really NOT ideal terrain for a school site.
Dedicated sustainable unpaved trails through the property would be very desirable, as their are LOTS of folks walking with/without dogs daily in the area.
As far as playground equipment, what’s there now seems to suffice, Yes – it’s pretty basic, but we took our grandkids over daily in mid July and we had the place to ourselves and the kids had a great time.
Adding a picnic pavilion might be a nice addition – especially one with some shade. I do see people using the picnic table and the half basketball court quite often.

        1. If you follow the link at the top of the website to “Process”, all survey results have been posted. The Town has been notified of the password issue. Thanks.

  5. Your Plum Creek survey results look to be password protected. Can you either provide the password or unprotect them? Thanks!

  6. Regarding PC North:
Combination Tennis/Pickleball courts would serve more individuals.
Great to see three shade areas offered. Playgrounds are so well used and shade is needed by guardians supervising kids!
    Restrooms are very welcomed.
This will be a popular park with great vistas.
    Regarding PC South
Single track trails are an excellent suggestion as well as bouldering area.
    Swings, swings always have swings!

  7. Could the bathroom structure for the Plum Creek South park please be placed a little further away from Mt Royal? My house is right across the street and I would rather not smell the toilets while I’m eating dinner or enjoying my backyard. If the bathroom structure were placed slightly more downhill I would be pleased. Thank you for your consideration.

  8. I’d like recommend 4 Pickle Ball Courts be established at Plum Creek North Park, on the surface of the current tennis courts. Obviously the condition of the current tennis courts, indicates lack of usage for years. My wife and I moved to Castle Rock in 2015 and as competitive tennis players, were excited to learn that there were tennis courts here in Plum Creek, just a short drive from our condo. Although they were a part of the golf course property, we were delighted to hear they were for general public use. We gathered up our equipment and headed out to play some tennis. Upon arriving at the courts, we quickly realized why there were no cars in the parking lot except ours, and our hearts were saddened to see the amount of weeds and overgrowth, and the poor condition of the perimeter fence, etc. Totally a disaster of a tennis court. Fast forward to today and the overwhelming rise of pickle ball in Castle Rock, and it becomes a “no brainer” as to what to do with the current surface. Create pickle ball courts! I realize the new surface would have to be post tension, but if done that way, those courts would last forever. Currently we have two pickle ball venues in Castle Rock at Founders Park and Parrish Park. In the south of Castle Rock we have none. Castle Rock North Park would be a perfect location, to establish another pickle ball venue that families not only from the our Plum Creek Community, but people from Crystal Valley , Bell Mountain and beyond would use.

  9. The sport of Pickleball is growing rapidly in the Castle Rock area, and 2-4 courts in the the south part of town would be a great addition. At a minimum, dual use courts (Pickleball & Tennis) would be great.

  10. Pickleball popularity is rapidly growing In Castle Rock and nationwide. More courts are needed and would be a great asset to the community.

  11. Hi ,
We would like to see more Pickle Ball courts in Castle Rock. Pb is one of the fastest growing activities and is enjoyed by all ages..

  12. (Comments for version 2- preferred b/c it opens up more areas letting more of the area used- version 1 is pretty concentrated):

    1. It is a local park meant to connect the neighborhood. In the 2 current proposals the only way for pedestrians to access the park is from Emerald Dr. through the parking lot. It would encourage more use by neighbors if there were more points of access. Perhaps stairs/path from the sidewalk along Emerald Dr. down to #1 and/or #13. (low cost)

    2. Adding more connecting pathways through the park for all the walkers in the area would be desirable such as connecting #1 to #10 and #2 down to 9-either sidewalk or crusher gravel. (low cost)

    3. The plan does not have much open lawn for free play. Perhaps the space between 14 and 9 could be grass. (#8) (low cost)

    4. For the shaded seating areas it would be nice to see movable chairs like at PSM and Festival Park. Studies show they are used so much more frequently.

    5. Consider adding some access on the west side to allow for residents along Plum Creek Parkway to gain entry (inclusivity!)

    GREAT JOB ALL!!!!

  13. We like some features of Concept 1 and some of Concept 2. Sitting areas near the playground areas for parent supervision of young children is important. But missing from Concept 1 is the ADA accessibility path. There are numerous residents in our Plum Creek neighborhoods who have mobility limitations. Is there a way to modify Concept 1 to incorporate the same ADA pathway as in Concept 2? A dual use court for both tennis and pickle ball? Is that an option? Thanks for the creativity!

  14. In regard to plum creek south park. Please consider moving the bathrooms further from the road to reduce their impact on the open space view for homeowners along mt. royal dr. Or, consider adding natural landscaping and trees between the road, mt royal and the planned bathroom location. Thank you.

  15. So excited to finally have a park near us! there are fabulous view from this property that will be able to be shared by all!
    I would like to see:

    1. more of the “open space” dedicated to actual grass for “open play”
    2. for the shaded seating areas to have movable chairs like at Festival Park-studies show they are used more frequently.
    3. more points of access to the park to make it a “community center” like steps down from the Emerald Dr. sidewalk and a trail on the Town owned land that parallels the driveway into the golf course. from Plum Creek Blvd.
    4. Pickleball is family friendly and one of the fastest growing sports in the country as it is easy for anyone to learn to play. It would be a great addition to the park!

  16. I would love to see more pickleball courts in CR. As others have said it is the fastest growing sport. Having only lived in CR 1 year I see that the courts are always busy and in this past year I continue to see them getting busier and busier. When we moved here the first thing I looked into was where the pickleball courts were. The PB courts would certainly be an attraction for the area. Its a no brainer.

  17. Low/infrequent usage of tennis courts imbedded in a development like this (great example is the single court in the Terrain) show that yes, there is some usage, but they site idle a lot of the time. Conversely, dedicated pickleball courts have shown consistent, growing usage and the # of players just continues to grow. I vote for the construction of dedicated pickleball courts.

  18. Jim Johnson has developed a wonderful Pickle Ball community that I have been involved with for a few years now. We have developed many friendships, quality, friendly people whom we want to have in our beautiful town of Castle Rock. our numbers have grown and it would be wonderful to have more Pickle Ball courts where people can gather for good, clean, fun, and get excercise at the same time, keeping our senior community more physically fit and vibrant and our younger generation with a place to gather and enjoy our beautiful Colorado in a healthy way. Thank you for considering this.

  19. I would like to see multiple pickle ball courts at one or both of these sites. The sport is growing in popularity. The courts will definitely be used by the residents from the south end of Castle Rock. The other courts in town are getting busier and busier. As the town grows and the popularity of the sport increases the demand for multiple courts will increase. Having lights for the courts will also be a huge advantage.
    Thank you!

  20. Pickle Ball is growing quickly. This sport can be played for both young and older citizens. I recommend adding pickleball courts

  21. In regard to Plum Creek south park: Hopefully the restrooms are going to be placed down below the patch of scrub oak on Mt Royal and NOT sitting right up on the street as is shown on the maps. If not, please consider no restrooms at all – The existing park has been fine for 25 years or so without restrooms anyway. It would be unfair to neighbors bordering Mt Royal to place restrooms up on the berm as currently shown.

  22. Are you kidding me? Why would you put porta pottys in plain view of neighbors back decks? Probably 50 ft away from some of these backyards – most of these people are older without young kids and enjoy sitting on their back decks There has never been a need for portable toilets here in the past, nor is there now. The people who use this park live nearby – they are not driving to it.

  23. I prefer no restrooms at all. I live across the street from the park and dont want the smell of the restrooms. We purchased our home due to the beauty and scenery of the park. The last thing we want is bathrooms in our view, nor the smell. We invested a lot of money in our backyard deck and patio to enjoy BBQ’s and family outings. I can appreciate the city’s willingness to invest in this beautiful park, but lets not commercialize it. We love seeing the wildlife and love the rustic Colorado unpaved trails. I would support a covered picnic pavilion. Please no bathrooms!

  24. All concepts for North look good. Pickle ball courts a welcomed addition.
All concepts for South ok. Keep natural trail surface. ELIMINATE the restrooms or MOVE them so the are tucked in closer to the scub oaks and not visible from Mount Royal Drive.

  25. we live east adjacent to the parking lot and sidewalk trail (our backyard is right next to this area) Most important to us is to have the black steel fence around the existing pool reused and installed as a barrier along the property line. Other issues we observe are dogs off leash, owners not picking up waste from dogs, tress dead or dying, neglect of mowing area, teenagers hang out and leave bottles and trash litter, no trash receptacles, should be a curfew, and enforce no motorized vehicles on paths and grass areas. Thanks for listening and for purchasing this open area for a park.

  26. Regarding the Plum Creek South Park:
I live across the street from the Plum Creek South park. I am most disappointed because I do not see the playground highlighted on either concept map. In these small drawings, it appears to be replaced by a bouldering area. I certainly hope that is not the case. I look out on the playground and, especially during the pandemic, I regularly see people of all ages using it. Sometimes walking adults stop and swing a bit. High school kids hang out there. Families ride their bikes to play there and parents/grandparents bring kids in strollers to swing and slide and play. I thought improving the park would mean upgrading the playground. The addition of those swing seats, like they have at Deputy Zack S Parrish III Memorial Park, that are safer for small or handicapped children and those popular round platform saucer swings would be nice to have in this neighborhood.

Personally, I feel that an ADA accessible trail is quite important so more people can enjoy the park. And shade would expand summer use. I like Concept 1 the best.

As for the trails through the scrub oak… there are many paths in there created by the deer who live in the area. People and dogs do travel them but I feel that creating more “official trails” all through there will increase traffic volume and is a great disservice to the local wildlife. I walk daily and often see 4, 5, 6 deer in the neighborhood. Perhaps you might consider reducing the number of enhanced “single track trails” in the plan to maybe just the one on the west end connecting Crosshaven Place to Mount Royal Drive.

Concerning the porta potty structure… Years ago the porta potty that was at the park was removed. As a neighborhood park, not a destination park, I’m not sure restrooms are necessary. If you are to replace the porta potty, please consider the aesthetics to those of us living here when placing that structure. We have beautiful views that should not include that.

Additionally, I think it would be terrific if the tennis courts were replaced at Plum Creek North and also lined for pickle ball. Some cities have large lidded containers where they keep pickle ball nets for players to set up for use on tennis courts. It would be a wonderful addition to this side of town.

Thank you for all your efforts regarding Castle Rock parks.

  27. The design should eliminate the Porta-Pottys entirely. Flushable toilets wouldn’t be a bad idea if a pickleball court was built.

  28. My back yard is directly across the street from the sidewalk that leads down to the park. We chose this house due to the great views of Pikes Peak. According to the maps provided illustrating what improvements are proposed to the park, there will be a “restroom” enclosure aka porta-pottys placed direct across the street from me.
Restrooms are not needed and need to be eliminated from the designs. No one should have to see or smell porta-pottys from their back yard.

  29. Please eliminate the porta potty’s from this plan, They are not needed and we feel they would bring down the value of the neighborhood, as well a attract unwanted visitors to our neighborhood.

  30. We live by Plum Creek South Park, Porta potty’s are not needed at this park as it is a small neighborhood park, not a huge destination park. Please remove the porta potty’s from this plan as we enjoy our beautiful view and don’t need to have it obstructed by foul smelling porta potty’s.

  31. We are so excited to see this finally happening! Great ideas! I would love to have a shaded playground ! Slides and play structures get so hot that the kids can’t enjoy them.
The overlook would present such a beautiful view facing the golf course & the rock!

  32. Why would the town choose to have porta pottys next to Mt. Royal Drive? This will de-value all of the homes across from the park and be unsightly.. Do we really need restrooms at this park? I propose that if a need exist then why not build a permanent structure that adds to the park instead of detracting from the park with porta pottys..

  33. Please do not put toilets/restrooms directly across from the homes across from the Plum Creek South park. Would ruin the views and not necessary. Visitors can go to Plum Creek North Park that already has facilities/plumbing established to provide public restrooms.
More playground equipment for young kids would be greatly appreciated.
    Leave current trails natural.

  34. Re Plum Creek N park: there needs to be a bench or 2 very near the play area for the youngest kids. Parents/guardians will want to be close to supervise and help these youngsters.

Re Plum Creek S park: is there to be no playground, only the bouldering area for kids to play? Keeping at least a bit of traditional play structures would be nice to have

  35. WE favor some Pickle Ball Courts. Also, no PORTA POTTIES. Why are you removing the exiting pool house with bathrooms? Couldn’t that be repurposed into a gathering spot/club house complete with a permanant bathrooms? Bathrooms could be drained and closed during the winter months. Also, a water feature such as a flowing stream with a small pond with picnic tables and shade features complimenting this area. A small xeriscape gartden/ botanical garden would be a great addition ond offer education and information for practical landscaping ideas I still favor a seasonal swimming pool since there is not a facility in close walking distance to much of Plum Creek South. When I moved here 15 years ago multi generational families enjoyed the amenities – and swimming was high on the list! What is the actual cost of changing the size of the pool? Why is it “off the list”? Seems short sighted. We might be able to raise some funds from homeowners interested in having a swimming area closer than Phillip Miller. Also a small play ground area would be a good additon. Thank you.

  36. I like the simple design of Plan 1, especially with the improved trail system. This open area is frequented by lots of wildlife, and I would like to continue to encourage that. I’m not sure we need porta pottys on the site. We had them a couple of years ago and the only people that appeared to use them were the post office, Fedex and UPS drivers, as well as construction people. Most of the parents were concerned with the people from outside the neighborhood being attracted to them. They would definitely need to be screened from the homes along Mount Royal. I was involved in the design and development of the original simple park and have enjoyed the many young families and grandparents who have utilized the park. The half court basket ball was done to discourage pick up games from outside the neighborhood with the limited parking available. Benches along the Southern nature trail to enjoy the view of Pikes would be appreciated. I would also like to see improvements to limit the park use as a dog toilet.

  37. This may be a little too late, but would a splash pad be a possibility at the Plum Creek North Site? That would make a big difference if our neighborhood is one of the only in the town without a pool.

  38. The parking lot was built for the pool for a lot of visitors. Recommend cutting it in half and adding open space. Less maintenence into the future and don’t see the need for this size.

  39. I think we should be able to have I closed restrooms instead of portable potties. This shouldn’t be a temporary park. All the nice parks in castle rock have permanent restrooms. Plum Creek is no different

  40. Hi! I am a resident in the Highlands at Plum Creek … Of the 2 proposed plans of North PC, I prefer #2 … Question … Will extra picnic tables be available under the trees and scattered throughout or just under the covered area? I am totally in favor of park like structures for kids … especially ‘ninja’ type climbing/playing areas. Nothing crazy, just different.

  41. Re PC South: While I agree with those who wrote about concerns re restrooms/porta potties visible to their back decks, there are those of us who walk to the park 10-20 min away. When coming with small children that is too far to go back for a potty urgency. Please keep toilet facilities in the plan. They could be moved further down the slope and away from the back yards along Mt Royal.

  42. May want to consider reducing the size of the parking lot. It was built for the pool and is more then needed for this size of park. Just turn the excess into open grass. Will save in resurfacing and limited increase in demo costs. Long term save on resurfacing in 15 years.

  43. Would love to see some sort of splash pad/water feature for kids and fire pits at the North location similar to what Festival Park offers downtown. Very excited for this improvement to our neighborhood!

  44. Please consider reducing the size of the parking lot at the Plum Creek North park site. I’m estimating it could be cut in about 1/2 allowing for more green space.

  45. On the map it shows that the courts would only be used for pickleball…. that is a lot of space for just 1 activity. Please consider installing basketball hoops, tennis options etc. Please don’t just put pickleball there.

  46. When doing the improvement work, suggest you run reasonable electricity to a pavilion/covered area for potential use. In the future you might do what our city did having a local decentralized music festival. It’s a lot cheaper than retro. The outlets obviously would be on a locked box.

    1. The project is currently in the Construction Document Phase. We will provide future updates when the design is further refined. Thank you!

  47. RE: Plum Creek South I like many of the additions, especially the loop trails and improved walkways. I like the bouldering area, but also want the existing playground equipment to remain. I see a family almost every time I walk by (2-3 times week). The Porta Potty enclosure will be gross for all. A flushing toilet would be welcome.
